Features
LED Emitters
The California Lightworks SolarStorm 440 uses 144 high flux bin Osram SSL LED diodes for a total of 440 watts. These diodes are among the best available rated to last 80000 hours compared to the competitors which usually are around 50,000 hours.
Osram SSL LED diodes shine brighter than most of their competitors admitting approximately 15% more light using the same amount of energy. This is why California Lightworks decided to use Osram diodes.
UVB Tubes
The California Lightworks SolarStorm 440 has two 15 watt T8 fluorescent UVB bulbs. The SolarStorm 440 is the only panel on the market that Includes UVB fluorescent lighting. This unique supplemental UVB lighting is essential for developing high-potency cannabis. The UVB tubes are typically turned on during the final few weeks of the flowering stage. There is an independent switch on the panel to turn on/off this feature.
Spectrum
The California Lightworks SolarStorm 440 employs a 5 band spectrum which includes Deep Blue (440nm), blue (470nm), red (620nm), warm white (3100K), and deep red (665nm). Many other panels on the market have either a 10 or 12 band Spectrum but California Lightworks provides the optimal light required for all stages of growth using only 5 bands. Quite impressive.
• Deep Blue (440nm)
• Blue (470nm)
• Red (620nm)
• Deep Red (665nm)
• Warm White (3100K)
• UVB (285-315nm)
Dual Spectrum Switch
The Veg and Flower modes are controlled by a single switch. Enabling the Veg setting provides more blue light while the flower setting provides more light in the red spectrum. During the last few weeks of the flowering stage I’d recommend that you turn on the UVB light to increase the potency of your cannabis.
Coverage and PAR
The California Lightworks SolarStorm 440 is the perfect size for a 3’ x 3’ grow tent but can be used in a 4’ x 4’ if you place your plants more to the center. Most Grow Tents have highly reflective material on the inside which aids in maximizing the light distribution.
